Gary
W. Kendall has practiced law in Virginia and throughout
the Southeast for the past 30 years. After graduating
from law school at the University of Richmond in 1976,
he began practicing with the law firm of MICHIE HAMLETT
LOWRY RASMUSSEN & TWEEL PLLC in Charlottesville,
Virginia where he is a senior partner.
Gary is the General Counsel to the Virginia State AFL-CIO
. He has spent his legal career as an advocate for workplace
safety and justice . He represents workers who have
been injured on the job or poisoned by toxic substances
such as asbestos. His firm specializes in product liability
cases and has successfully handled many cases for workers
injured by defective products. In addition to his work
in the courtroom, Gary has served as a lobbyist in the
Virginia Legislature as an advocate for worker rights.
He has given countless seminars and training sessions
to union members on a variety of legal issues such as
workers’ compensation and personal injury law.
Gary is a member of the Virginia Trial Lawyers Association,
The Southern Trial Lawyers Association, and The Association
of Trial Lawyers of America.. He has served in leadership
roles in these organizations and is a member of the
National Board of Directors of the American Board of
Trial Advocates.
In 1996 the Virginia AFL-CIO awarded Gary its highest
service award, The Paul Askew Award. In 2007 the Western
Virginia Chapter of the Coalition of Labor Union Women
awarded Gary its Man Of The Year Award for his lifelong
service to unions of Virginia.
Gary’s law firm has offices in Charlottesville
and Roanoke. The 14 lawyers in his firm provide expert
advice on a broad range of legal issues. His firm practices
in all of the state and federal courts in Virginia and
has attorneys licensed in West Virginia and Washington,
D.C. as well.
